Michigan State University, in coordination with the Michigan Department of Agriculture, announced Nov. 18 that production of all cookies by MSU Bakers has safely resumed after a complete inspection of all machines.
On Nov. 14, MSU recalled several cookie and ice cream products due to potential contamination of metal shavings. The recalled products were MSU Bakers Decorated Sugar Cookies, Udder Delight’s Swiss Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich and Udder Delight’s Classic Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich.
On Nov. 13, an employee discovered that a machine used in the production process was malfunctioning and immediately notified supervisors. The Department of Agriculture, the regulatory agency for the state that oversees food production, was notified and began an inspection.
Production of the products in question was immediately ceased, and all known products were pulled from retail shelves. There have been no reports of injury due to the possible contamination.
If a customer still has any of the noted products, please segregate them and contact the MSU Bakery. MSU will dispose of the products and credit accounts. Anyone with questions can contact MSU Bakers at 517-353-9315.
